Dropbox to Close Password Manager

The shutdown of Dropbox Passwords will be implemented in multiple phases. Beginning on August 28th, the service will transition to a read-only mode in both the mobile app and browser extension. During this time, users will still have access to their stored passwords and related details.

However, the ability to add new entries will be disabled, and the auto-fill feature will also be removed, making it less convenient for users. On September 11th, the situation will change further as the Dropbox Passwords mobile app will cease to function entirely. Users will not be able to launch the app or view their stored information through it.

Nevertheless, access to these details will remain available via the browser extension. The final phase will take place on October 28th, when Dropbox Passwords will be completely discontinued. The browser extension will stop functioning as well, and users will no longer be able to retrieve any of their saved information.

Additionally, all stored data will be securely and permanently deleted from Dropbox’s servers at this time. For those still using Dropbox Passwords, it is highly recommended to export your data and transition to another password management solution as soon as possible.
