Firefox 141 Introduces AI-Powered Tab Organization and Additional Features

Mozilla has introduced an array of exciting features and enhancements in the latest Firefox 141 update. Notably, users now have the ability to organize tag groups using artificial intelligence, alongside a new function that allows the address bar to serve as a unit converter. As always, developers have also tackled several security vulnerabilities in both Firefox and Firefox ESR versions. Looking ahead, Mozilla has announced plans to release subsequent versions, including Firefox 142 and specific Firefox ESR updates, on August 19th, 2025.

Notably, Firefox ESR 128 will receive its final update this August, along with Firefox ESR 115, pending Mozilla’s decision. The Firefox 141 update introduces the capability to partially automate the organization of multiple tabs within tab groups using AI. This feature employs a local AI model, ensuring that no data is sent to the cloud, thus safeguarding user privacy. Mozilla intends to implement this feature incrementally over the next few weeks.

Additionally, since Firefox 136, the browser has displayed placeholders for content from platforms like Instagram and TikTok, requiring user interaction to load the content. With version 141, support for Disqus has also been added to this feature, expanding the browsing experience. Another significant addition is the unit conversion functionality in the address bar, which can now handle various metric and imperial units for length, mass, temperature, and more. The address bar can also provide time conversions across different time zones.

On the security front, the latest update addresses multiple vulnerabilities, with four categorized as high risk. Firefox ESR is currently in a transitional phase with three generations: 140, 128, and 115. The most recent updates have fixed numerous security vulnerabilities across each version, with ongoing assessments regarding the future of Firefox ESR 115.
